Today is Keanu Reeves' 52nd birthday - as if he's that old!!!
As was tradition with my former blog, he is getting a birthday top ten.
I am REALLY enjoying this Keanaissance (I know that's not a word) we're having these last couple of years - its like when Ethan Hawke suddenly started working again! Lovely surprise.
Now, some of my choices may be unpopular and some of my omissions may be even less popular but I don't care.
I can't include any of The Matrix films as I haven't actually seen any of them - I've stared through the telly at the first one because I was high as a kite and didn't even know my name at the time ha ha that was 16/17 years ago and I've not even bothered again since.
Here we go, in some kind of order.........
10. Point Break
Find me someone who doesn't love this film and I guarantee you they are lying or haven't seen it.
9. Devil's Advocate
I adore this film for its amazing acting and genius twists and turns.
8. Dracula
I actually don't think I even own this film and that's probably for the best because 'Dracula Dead and Loving It' has ruined it for me now anyway ha ha I can quote that film word for word - so vastly underrated and hilariously funny.
7. Knock Knock
This is one fucked up film, Eli Roth is one of my favourite people - what a sicko.
6. John Wick
Because I am so stubborn, I only watched this film about 2 weeks ago. My house mate was badgering me for ages and if I'm honest, I probably delayed it just to annoy him. Wish I hadn't because its a truly amazing film - it has this lovely dark South Korean cinema vibe to it, it makes me think of A Bittersweet Life.
5. My Own Private Idaho
Oh my beautiful River :-( I love this film because i've been able to appreciate it in a number of different ways - firstly as a 12 year old obsessed with River Phoenix (I just thought it was really weird and a bit shit then) then in my late teens (Just thought Gus Van Sant was a perve) and then in my late twenties where I could really appreciate what a beautiful film this truly is. Larry Clarke needs to learn some subtlety from Gus Van Sant by watching this.
4. Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
Hilariously funny and highly quotable. Also best closing song ever.
3. Parenthood
One of my favourite films of all time - he just so happens to be in it.
2. I Love you to Death
Probably my number 2 favourite River film ever. Keanu plays a spaced out druggy murderer in this which is actually much funnier than it sounds.
1. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
I don't even need to explain this choice.
