A Bromance is a wonderful thing and the Bromance between these two pictured above, was literally the centre of my life for two gut wrenchingly, amazing hours last Friday.
There is so much more about this film that is truly stunning, in every sense of the word, but the mind blowing natural chemistry between Lucas Hedges and Casey Affleck, was my stand out favorite thing about this fucking astounding movie.
They have both been nominated for Oscars and I'll be genuinely shocked and gutted if they don't win (in the absence of Aaron Taylor Johnson, of course) because no one in either category deserves it more.
Manchester By The Sea is a 2016 American Drama film written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan telling the story of Lee Chandler who is summoned back to his home town following his brothers death.
What unfolds over the two hours is a simultaneously heart breaking and heart warming movie about the past and present colliding in family life, that will make you laugh out loud and cry like a bitch, whilst overwhelming you to the point of vomiting, at the sheer talent of every single person involved. It's the most naturally acted movie I've seen in YEARS.
Everything about this film is perfect in my eyes, it's not flashy or over blown, its not too Hollywood - its 100% about the story and its characters. That is what I love about a drama, its all about the story and being invested in other peoples lives for 2 hours. It's a perfect escape.
I am not going to reveal anything about the story as I don't do spoilers but I urge you to watch this, even if you wait for it to come out on DVD or on Sky Cinema, in fact it will have no less impact from the comfort of your own sofa, maybe even more, preferably in your pyjamas, snuggled under a blanket, with tissues at the ready for the tears that will definitely come.
